Job Summary

Position: GI Risk Actuary (Senior Risk Manager)

Location:

Edinburgh, Leeds, Cardiff/Newport, Bristol (hub-based; hybrid working – at least two days per week in office)

Hours:

Full-time

Salary: £114,606 – £134,830

End Date: 28 July 2026

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a key member of the GI Claims, Reserving, Exposure Management, and Pricing & Performance Committees.
  • Challenge first line teams on technical provisions, reserve margins, and uncertainties to drive improvements and efficiencies.
  • Provide sharp oversight and advice on pricing and performance, scrutinising models, strategies, reserving approaches, and loss trends.
  • Lead deep‑dive risk reviews of the financials of the GI business and bring financial rigor to non‑financial risk reviews.
  • Support and robustly challenge strategic and commercial decisions across the business cycle.
  • Collaborate closely with first line teams and travel to key hubs as required.
  • Shape GI and reinsurance risk appetites, ensuring regulatory and professional compliance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Actuary with several years of post‑qualification experience.
  • Strong background in personal lines insurance, especially household lines.
  • Experience in both industry and consultancy roles – a distinct advantage.
  • Proven expertise in GI personal lines reserving, reinsurance, and pricing, including advanced data analytics.
  • In‑depth understanding of current and emerging regulations.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Data science capabilities highly valued; GI capital modelling knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt when needed.
