Purchase Ledger Assistant

Your new company Hays are working with a public sector organisation serving the communities of Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding area to recruit a Purchase Ledger Assistant. Your new role Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently. Match invoices to purchase orders and goods received notes. Ensure invoices are coded correctly to the appropriate cost centres and budgets. Resolve invoice discrepancies and queries promptly.

Maintain accurate supplier records within the finance system. Prepare supplier payment runs in accordance with agreed schedules. Reconcile supplier statements and investigate outstanding items. Monitor and manage aged creditors. Process credit notes and ensure appropriate allocation against supplier accounts. Assist with month-end reconciliation activities. What you'll need to succeed Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger, Accounts Payable, or Finance Administration role.

Strong numerical and data-entry skills with a high level of accuracy. Experience using finance or accounting systems. Good understanding of invoice processing and supplier payments. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
