Day-to-day of the role:
Develop and implement the financial strategy aligned with the organisation's goals and objectives. Oversee the annual budgeting process, ensuring realistic and accurate financial forecasts. Provide strategic financial advice and guidance to the senior management team and the Board of Trustees. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and annual financial statements. Maintain compliance with relevant financial regulations, laws, and accounting standards.
Liaise with external auditors and oversee the annual audit process. Establish and maintain effective financial management policies, procedures, and internal controls. Monitor and analyse financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions. Manage cash flow, investments, and banking relationships to optimise financial resources. Support programme delivery teams by monitoring the profitability of commercial contracts. Lead and motivate the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills &
Qualifications:
Degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA). Minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior finance role, preferably within both the charity and commercial sectors. Strong knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and regulatory requirements in the UK. Demonstrable experience in financial strategy development, budgeting, and financial reporting. Proficient in financial systems and software, including SAGE Intacct and MS Excel.
Strong leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to inspire and develop finance professionals. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. High level of integrity, ethics, and a commitment to the goals and values of the organisation. Benefits:
