Information about the Role
Join Counter Terrorism Policing South West (CTPSW) and play a vital role in strengthening regional resilience against evolving threats. You will work within a team who are responsible for the co-ordination of regional Counter Terrorism preparedness activity, including the design, delivery, and evaluation of CT exercises. Through structured assurance processes, you will help to ensure national contingency plans are effectively implemented at a regional level, while driving meaningful organisational learning from exercises and real-world operations.
Working at the heart of a complex multi-agency environment, you will foster strong collaboration between national CT capabilities and regional partners, including Civil Contingencies Act (CCA) Category 1 responders and Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) partners. This role is key to maintaining a consistent national approach, whilst tailoring delivery to meet regional needs—enhancing readiness, interoperability, and collective response capabilities across the South West.
Responsibilities- To assess the risk of emergencies occurring and use this information to inform contingency planning. To act as a conduit for the Receipt and Assessment of National Tasking from the Deputy Assistant Commissioner Special Operations (DACSO) and the National Coordinator Protect & Prepare via NaCTSO (National Counter Terrorism Security Office) Messaging and Security Review Committee (extraordinary).
- Coordinate the development, maintenance, review and assurance of National CT Contingency Plans, as defined by the NPRAS process, ensuring a nationally consistent but regionally specific collaborative approach between National CT Capabilities and Regional CCA Cat 1 Responders, JESIP partners and other agencies.
- Create exercises to practice or validate emergency response plans to support the National Operational Development Unit (ODU) and Regional Learning, training and exercising (LTE) resources with National and Regional priority exercising and validation, to compliment the HSG/ODU national exercise programmes.
- To facilitate and support LTE resources with National, Regional and Local debriefing processes, post CT incidents and exercises in order to specifically identify Protect & Prepare successful performance, lessons to be learned and to enable the review of relevant plans, guidance and arrangements.
- Provide support to the NCOM (National Coordinators Oversight meeting) by putting arrangements in place to make information available to the public about civil protection matters and maintain arrangements to warn, inform and advise the public in the event of a CT incident or emergency
- Plan, implement and manage systems for the exchange of sensitive information, data and intelligence. This will be achieved by undertaking the role of a PaPLO (Protect & Prepare liaison Officer) and facilitating the joint NaCTSO and NPSA (National Protective Security Authority) PIIE (Post Incident Information Exploitation) process
- Develop and sustain effective working relationships with other organisations, including public, private or voluntary sector bodies. This is essential for effective multi-agency working in planning for, responding to, and assisting recovery from emergencies. Specifically JESIP partners. This will include working closely with P&P leads and deputies from regional forces.
