The Sirona Speech and Language Therapy School Aged Team is a friendly and supportive team that deliver a variety of core and commissioned clinical Speech and Language Therapy Services across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Position Overview

You will work as a Band 4 Speech and Language Therapy Assistant Practitioner working in a Special School with children with complex communication needs associated with severe disability. You will also be supporting children using high tech communication aids across a number of primary and secondary schools. You will work with Specialist Speech and Language Therapists to support the students and staff.

The post holder should have interest and/or experience in alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), and supporting children/YP in both primary and secondary schools. Please do contact us to find out more detail about the position.

Responsibilities

Main duties of your role will be:

  • Work within primary and secondary schools (specialist and mainstream) to deliver specific skilled support along with speech and language therapy programmes to children/young people and their families to improve their outcomes and support children/young people to reach their full potential.
  • Monitor children/young people's response to therapy intervention and feedback to the therapist, jointly setting new targets as required.
  • Work closely with the Speech and Language Therapists in the Special School and AAC Support Team.
  • Prepare equipment, materials and make resources to support the Speech and Language Therapy team.
