The Intensive Care Unit is looking for a housekeeper to support our busy unit here at North Bristol NHS Trust. The post is for 23 hours per week and will require flexible working to cover a 7‑day service. We are a large, friendly and diverse multi‑disciplinary team with a passion for providing high quality care to patients and their families/carers.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment for patients, families and staff.
- Restock all clinical areas and specific equipment in line with local policy.
- Assist the registered nurse in ordering and delivering patients’ meals in an acceptable manner.
- Keep cupboards stocked, clean and tidy, maintaining adequate stock levels both on the unit and in the main store.
- Cover clerical and reception duties when appropriate staff are absent.
- Attend and participate in ward meetings as required.
- Tackle reasonable duties requested by the senior nursing team.
- Uphold the unit’s philosophy and promote a good patient experience.
- Contribute to a learning environment for staff undergoing training.
- Plan and prioritise workloads to develop organisational skills.
- Use resources efficiently and be aware of cost implications.
- Order and receive kitchen items as required.
- Maintain fridge units, recording temperatures, cleaning and ensuring food storage complies with the Trust’s Food Safety Policy.
- Act on all clinical governance issues in accordance with Trust policy.
- Provide direct support to qualified staff.
- Establish formal and informal lines of communication with staff, patients and visitors.
- Implement infection control measures to keep clinical equipment clean and ready for use.
- Promote nutrition by ensuring patients receive food they want to eat.
