Audit & Guidelines Midwife

The post holder will provide expert advice, practical support, and guidance, reporting to the Head of Midwifery, to coordinate a portfolio of audit projects arising from National, Regional, Trust, Local priorities, or Risk issues.

They will oversee the development and dissemination of clinical guidelines and the audit quality improvement strategy, working collaboratively with clinical services, specialties, and professional groups to plan, support, and report on related activities while maintaining the highest standards of care.

Ensuring clinical quality, effectiveness, and the improvement of patient outcomes will be a key priority. The post holder will promote and support a culture that embeds these standards across the clinical area and department.

They will coordinate the guideline development and implementation programme across the division, maintaining a robust audit trail, and ensure staff actively contribute to the Trust's proactive approach to quality and safety management.

Main duties of the job

Coordinate the development and implementation of multi-professional and multidisciplinary clinical audit and effectiveness initiatives across the division, clinical services, and professional groups within the organisation.

Liaise with clinical service leads to encourage participation in relevant national and regional audits, ensuring that audit findings are acted upon.

Oversee the division's audit programme, aligning it with the Trust's overarching audit strategy to prioritise audits appropriately and ensure findings are implemented and shared across the organisation.

Communicate audit findings clearly and constructively to relevant stakeholders and contribute to the organisation-wide dissemination of outcomes and actions.

Provide specialist support to Trust staff, including teaching clinical audit and service evaluation methodologies at all stages, to enable robust clinical audit and quality improvement projects across the organisation.

Conduct literature searches to identify evidence-based standards for auditing practice or developing care standards, protocols, and guidelines, and provide guidance to clinical staff to ensure these standards are applied effectively.
