Therefore, this is a unique and exciting role for the next step in your career We need a Nurse or AHP Responsible Assessor as part of our Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) Programme.

This clinical leadership role is central to the successful delivery of this programme.

You will be supported by a robust orientation and structured development pathway.

You will be working with patients, clinicians, and other partners, to implement the LCS programme across SWAG CA. It is an integral part of the overall programme governance structure with specific responsibility for the safety and operational aspects of the process to select and assess the individual cases for entry into the programme.

You will continually oversee and monitor the clinical programme, the assessment and management of participants and provide day to day leadership of the clinical service.

You will contribute to the setting up of LCS virtual MDT meetings, work closely with the Respiratory Teams across trusts to facilitate robust assurance and governance processes which meet the requirements of the national LCS team.

You will be the key point of contact between the third-party delivery partners, secondary care, screening participants and the SWAG LCS programme team.

The overall purpose of the Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) Programme is to enable the early detection of lung cancer to save lives.

This role will be fundamental in the delivery and running of a high quality and effective LCS service.

The LCS programme has been implemented throughout England, in areas identified with high disease prevalence, where significant impact can be made from the recognition of early-stage lung cancer & offering curative treatment.

The Central Responsible Assessor (RA) facilitates the clinical flow of the LCS programme participants.

The central RA oversees that all participants follow the pathways outlined in the national and local SOPs, including any participants that have an abnormality reported on their CT scan.

They support the delivery of the national optimal lung cancer pathway within SWAG trusts for screening identified patients.

They are responsible for the leadership of the process to select and assess the individual cases for entry into the programme, the Lung Health Check (LHC), and the risk assessment for lung cancer.

The successful candidate will act as a conduit between the LCS LHC nurses, supplier responsible assessor, local medical and nursing teams across both primary and secondary care, SWAG LCS team, and screening participants.
