At North Bristol NHS Trust, our Band 7 Specialist Rotational Clinical Pharmacist programme is designed to support pharmacists in building advanced clinical, leadership and service development skills across a diverse range of specialties. Each rotation lasts six months, allowing you to gain meaningful experience, develop specialist knowledge and contribute to service improvement initiatives while working alongside highly experienced multidisciplinary teams.

- Infectious Diseases
- NHS@Home
- General Medicine
- HIV
- Respiratory Medicine

- Renal Medicine
- Elective Orthopaedic Surgery
- Pharmacoeconomics and ICB
Through our strong partnerships with the Integrated Care Board (ICB), we are also able to offer a unique Pharmacoeconomics and ICB rotation, providing valuable insight into medicines optimisation and healthcare commissioning.
Main duties of the jobThis is an exciting opportunity to develop a diverse portfolio of clinical, leadership and service development experience while helping to deliver outstanding patient care.
As a Specialist Rotational Clinical Pharmacist, you will:
- Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services to inpatients and outpatients across a variety of clinical specialties.
- Work as an integral member of multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient care and medicines use.
- Support lead specialist pharmacists in the delivery and development of pharmacy services.
- Contribute to medicines optimisation, antimicrobial stewardship and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide expert medicines information and advice to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Support the education and development of trainee pharmacists, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and students.
- Participate in service development projects and contribute to policy, guideline and pathway development.
- Contribute to the pharmacy weekend, late night and on‑call services.
We are a large pharmacy department with over 80 pharmacists including many highly specialist posts, pharmacist‑lead clinics, independent prescribers and consultant pharmacists. The clinical ward pharmacy service is well established and provided by clinical pharmacists and medicine management technicians. The pharmacy department is located in the Brunel building, which is a state‑of‑the‑art modern hospital opened in 2014.
