Position: Support Worker - Melton Short Break (FEMALE ONLY) Direct Services

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: Melton Short Breaks & Supported Living Services, Victor Avenue, Melton Mowbray, LE13 0GG

Salary: £25,995 - £26,409 per annum (pro rata for part time)

Working Hours: 24 hours per week. Work flexibly within 7am-10pm, including weekends and bank holidays.

Contract Type: Permanent

Eligibility: Must have right to work in UK. Role open to female applicants only (per policy). Must have enhanced DBS with barred list.

About the Role

Provide day-to-day support and personal care to adults with learning disabilities, sensory and physical impairments in short break and supported living services. Promote choice, independence and person‑centred care. No prior formal care experience required.

Training will be provided onsite with ongoing mentoring and coaching.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver high quality care and support to adults with learning differences.
  • Assist with personal care, promote choice and control, maximise independence.
  • Use equipment for moving and handling service users.
  • Engage with service users, including those using alternative communication methods.
  • Maintain clear, concise written records.
  • Work flexible rota (including evenings, weekends, bank holidays) and attend training/meetings outside normal hours.
  • Respond to crisis situations as part of the team.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Commitment to high quality, anti‑discriminatory care with adherence to safeguarding regulations.
  • Ability to manage workloads, prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure.
  • Effective communication, including alternative communication systems.
  • IT and written skills for record keeping.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
