The Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service, a unique partnership between Devon Partnership NHS Trust and Alzheimers Society, is dedicated to delivering comprehensive support across Bristol for individuals living with dementia andtheir families. Our service, which spans from diagnosis to end of life, is designed to enable people to live their best lives for as long as possiblewithin their own community. We also place a strong emphasis on raising publicawareness of dementia and enhancing accessibility for underrepresentedcommunities.

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Psychologist for a full-time, substantive position. In this role, you will collaborate closely with a dedicated,compassionate multidisciplinary team, including nurses, occupationaltherapists, social workers, psychiatrists, and dementia navigators. Your responsibilities will include conducting neuropsychological assessments,structured observations, and semi-structured interviews, as well as gatheringself-report data and preparing reports. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development and delivery of post-diagnostic well-being interventions.

We are looking to recruit someone who can quickly get up to speed with the clinical role and embed themselves in the team. You will need to be kind, highly organised, assertive in emotionally demanding situations, and comfortable working with a degree of autonomy. We are looking for someone who can be calm, confident, and reassuring when discussing distressing and sensitive situations with individuals and families accessing the service.

We need a candidate with strong clinical and professional skills and a commitment to maintaining high-quality assessment and support for the people referred to us.

You would join a small psychology team consisting of 2x Clinical Psychologists and 2x Assistant Psychologists. The role may necessitate working extended hours at times, and be flexible to travel across the city of Bristol as required.

Job Purpose

The principal purpose of the job is to improve thepsychological health & well-being of people in receipt of services by Devon Partnership Trusts Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service.

This will be achieved in this post by:

1.Providing a Clinical Psychology and Therapy service to peopleas a keycomponent of services provided by Devon Partnership Trust

2.Contributing to improving the healthand wellbeing of older people, people with dementia and the carers and familiesof the client group.

3.Implement specific assessment and psychological interventions and provide advice and consultancy to patients,family members, carers and professionals under the supervision and management of the Clinical Psychologist.

4.The post holder will be line managedby the Psychology Lead and supported by senior colleagues within Bristol Dementia Wellbeing Service. The post holder will be expected to make good useof the expertise of others within the service to further develop their clinical skills with this client group.
