Senior Physiotherapy Support Worker — Rotating Medical Wards

This post will work within the Medicine Physiotherapy service at North Bristol's main site  Medicine pathway is a large team covering a variety of clinical settings including Older Persons Medicine, Frailty short stay, Elgar Enablement Unit and specialist medical areas such as infectious diseases and gastro. This role is a senior support worker role providing physiotherapy interventions to acutely unwell adults, within medicine both with other colleagues and autonomously.

This post rotates between the different clinical areas every six months. A full training and in service training program is available for the successful candidate. This post is a working pattern of 7.5 hrs a day, prominently Monday-Friday. It does also include a weekend commitment of one weekend day a month, with time back in the week which is rostered.

You would be working within one of the Medicine Physiotherapy teams as part of a large multidisciplinary team including Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Specialist Nurses, Dietitians and Medical staff. The work is varied, and opportunities are available to rotate into the different medical areas. You will provide physiotherapy assessments, exercise plans and support patients through their journey including discharge.

To be responsible for own caseload following referral from a Physiotherapist , adhering to specified therapeutic programs and protocols, monitoring patient progress and adapting treatment as necessary. Supporting discharge planning for patients including completion of discharge paperwork. Supporting other support workers to manage their caseloads, support support worker training and working with undergraduate students out on placement.

• Evidence of higher level apprenticeship, foundation degree or equivalent clinical experience
• Evidence of a continued desire to learn and develop self.
• Experience of healthcare environment
• Experience working as therapy support worker

• Knowledge of role and relevant skills required

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Experience working with Medical patients including frailty
