Job summary
Ward A900 has permanent full time vacancy for a Band 5 registered nurse.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills on a specialist gastro/hepatology ward with an experienced team.
Main duties of the jobAct as a clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to both nurses and junior medical staff working within the unit. Act as a resource to other areas within the Trust as required.
Work towards safe and timely discharge plans and ensure barriers to discharge are identified and acted on in a timely and appropriate manner
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence based, individualised patient care. Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
Manage patient care according to agreed policies and protocols, taking appropriate action, seeking advice from other members of the multi-disciplinary team as necessary. This will include identification of risk (clinical, health, safety and security)

Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential- Registered General Nurse (Adult) 1st level qualification
- Current NMC Registration
- Training qualification or equivalent experience
- Relevant post registration course
- Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment
- Interest in the clinical area
- Experience of taking charge
- Demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and MDT
- Computer skills
- Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids
- Ability to take the lead, initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient
- Clinical decision making ability
