As a Public Health Manager, you will support the Strategic Lead by providing operational oversight of key public health programmes, applying your specialist knowledge and managing a team of public health practitioners. Working collaboratively across services and with partners, you will help deliver initiatives that improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.

The Public Health and Wellbeing Division leads a range of programmes focused on improving health outcomes, preventing ill health and reducing health inequalities, supporting healthier communities across South Gloucestershire. What you will be doing

Working in the Healthy Communities team, you will lead on Smokefree work, including managing our in-house Stop Smoking Support Service and working with a range of partners to engage underserved populations.

It will be your responsibility to manage a team of public health practitioners, supporting the delivery of public health strategies, priorities and action plans across your programme areas.

You will plan, monitor, evaluate and develop services that support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities, contributing to improved public health outcomes across South Gloucestershire.

Working collaboratively with colleagues and partners, you will promote matrix working and support a culture of evidence-based, population outcome-focused decision making. Preparing reports for a range of audiences, you will share best practice and develop relationships with stakeholders, providing expertise for prevention, intervention, and service development.

Given the changing nature of public health priorities, you will manage competing demands, respond to complex issues and make recommendations that inform the development of policies and services and address the wider determinants of health. What we need from youIt is essential that you hold a relevant professional qualification, such as a degree in Public Health or equivalent relevant qualification or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience in the field of public health, education or social science.

We are looking for someone with experience of developing and delivering strategies, plans and health improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with a range of partners to achieve positive outcomes for local communities.

Given the nature of this work, you must have strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage, motivate and work effectively with colleagues and partners across health improvement, healthcare settings and the voluntary and community sector.

You will have experience of research, development and evaluation techniques, including an understanding of complex data and the ability to communicate this effectively at all levels.
