About the roleHargreaves Lansdown are looking for 2 apprentices to join our Cyber team, one in our Cyber Defence team and one in our Security Architecture and Product Security team. You'll be based at our offices in central Bristol. You don't need to have any prior work experience or training in Cyber, just a passion for technology and willingness to learn.
The apprenticeship- You will complete the 18 month-long, Level 4 Information Cyber Security Technologist apprenticeship.
- The apprenticeship will give you an understanding of working in Cyber Security, covering legislation and ethics, networking and system security, identifying and responding threats and assessing risk.
As part of your apprenticeship, you will rotate through the four pillars of Cyber Defence, supporting the Security Operations Centre, Vulnerability Management, Cyber Threat Intelligence and Security Testing functions to protect HL clients and colleagues from cyber-attacks.

- Continually improve your knowledge through technical development and learning within the Cyber Defence Team
- Engage regularly with the team to drive personal development
- Keep up to date with the latest cyber security threat landscape and drive personal development through learning activities
- Ensure monitoring, analysis and reporting is delivered within specified SLA targets
Specific Rotation Responsibilities:
- Aim to monitor and acknowledge alerts in accordance with specified SLA targets
- Support senior members of the team with security incidents, investigations and projects
- Support members of the team with completion of technical risk assessments for vulnerabilities discovered via manual methods
- Monitor and acknowledge TIP alerts in accordance with specified targets
- Participate in offensive security testing with the team during test engagements The role includes working with a number of IT Support teams, rotating through teams to assist with the apprenticeship modules.
As a Security Architecture Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced professionals to help design secure systems, assess technical risks, and contribute to the strategic protection of the organisation's digital infrastructure.
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in a high‑impact area of cyber security, learning how to build secure systems from the ground up while developing both technical and professional skills.

- Scripting & Automation - Learn basic scripting (e.g., Python, Power Shell) to automate security tasks.
- Operating Systems - Understand security considerations across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms.
- Collaboration - Work with stakeholders across the business to align security with organisational goals.
- Communication - Learn to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Problem Solving - Develop the ability to anticipate and address security challenges.
- Project Management - Support the planning and implementation of secure solutions.
- Integrity & Ethics - Uphold the highest standards of trust and responsibility in handling sensitive information.
