Technical Lead Platform Engineer (Azure) Outside IR35: £650 - £700pd Outside Ir35 About the Role We are looking for a Technical Lead Platform Engineer to lead the delivery and operation of Azure cloud platform services. This role is responsible for ensuring highly automated, secure, resilient, and cost-effective cloud capabilities aligned to business objectives. You will work closely with the Cloud Product Owner, Lines of Business, and partners, providing hands-on technical leadership across platform engineering, Dev Ops, and operations.

To be successful in this position you will need demonstratable evidence of providing technical and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities Lead the design, delivery, and operation of Azure cloud platform services Provide technical leadership and mentoring to platform engineers, fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture Own agile ways of working, including facilitating agile rituals and acting as Scrum Master when required Collaborate with Product Owners and LOB teams to define and prioritise new automated cloud capabilities Manage Azure service provisioning and deprovisioning, configuration management, and service catalogue Own Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions and platform ever greening Drive CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and test automation Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and automated operational responses Lead service resiliency, availability, performance, and disaster recovery Oversee incident and problem management, including post-mortems and error budgets Manage cloud consumption reporting, cost optimisation, and turn it off initiatives Ensure strong security practices, including shift-left security and secure source code management Technical Competencies & Experience Strong Azure cloud experience across SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform, Bicep, ARM) Source code management and pull-request-based change processes CI/CD, deployment automation, and test automation Monitoring and alerting in production cloud environments Shift-left security practices and strong security awareness Familiarity with multiple programming languages and cloud tooling
