Telecoms Software Support Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a can-do attitude to support our clients, ensuring we exceed their expectations every time. Your role will be part of the Operations Team within a dynamic and busy local Telecommunications Company, and will work alongside individuals who are highly experienced and experts in their field. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn within Installation or Support or Engineering Teams.

Hybrid working available – 3 days office, 2 days home for those individuals who would value this flexibility. We would also consider fully remote employees after a period of initial training in the office on a full-time basis. A total of 37.5 hours per week, 24 days holiday per year plus Bank holidays, and an extra day holiday for birthdays (when falling on a weekday).

Working hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm with 1 hour lunch break, 37.5 hours per week.

The primary purpose of the role will be installing and configuring Squire Technologies’ unique telecoms solutions and providing technical support and training for these products.

  • Providing in-depth technical support, handling, and resolving technical issues and investigating escalated support matters.
  • Deployments of specialist troubleshooting solutions to help ensure the intricacies of a challenging issue are captured.
  • Diagnostic testing and the use of remote tools used to access customers’ systems for the purpose of troubleshooting and identifying solutions.
  • Providing regular customer feedback on cases to manage customer relationships.
  • Software patching/Customer upgrades.
  • Collaborate with internal teams as required to deliver outstanding levels of service to our clients.

    Performing customer installations of Squire Solutions remotely or on-site where required.
  • Detailed documentation of customer installations and handover to support colleagues.
  • Providing customer training.
  • Providing process improvement where relevant.

Ideal Candidate:

Telecoms experience, 5+ years support experience in routing, fixed line, mobile (3G/4G) or VoIP telecom environments.

Working experience in Telecoms Signaling Software with knowledge of some/all, SIP, SS7, RTP, (ISUP+SCCP), SBC, SMS, SMSC, SMSG, STP, debugger, is required.

Working knowledge of networking components, DNS, DHCP, FTP, SSH, Telnet, VoIP, VPN, SNMP, IP Routing, and Ethernet, IP, TCP, UDP Protocols.

Good working knowledge of Linux, and Cloud & Virtualization:
Exposure to cloud-based carrier platforms is increasingly valuable.

Strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis, defining options for resolutions, and the ability to clearly articulate the options to internal technical and customers.

Working knowledge of Scripting/Programming

Languages:

SQL, Python, Perl, Bash.

Working experience with Session Border Controllers (SBCs), interconnect, SIP trunking, interworking gateways.

You will have high levels of energy, enthusiasm, motivation, coupled with a logical and structured approach to problem solving; you will be passionate about technology.

You will be pro-active and conscientious with excellent organisational and time management skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication ability, the role requires fluency in English.

You will be team-orientated as well as open to learning and sharing knowledge.
