As a Data Management Manager within the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) Business Data Office, part of the Client Experience & Data Platform, you'll play a key role in shaping and embedding data management practices across the business. Working closely with business, technology and data teams, you'll help ensure data is governed effectively, aligns with Group standards and regulatory requirements, and is fit for purpose throughout its lifecycle.

Initially, you'll have a particular focus on metadata, improving data governance, controls and risk management while ensuring compliance with Group policies and regulatory requirements.

You'll work with teams across CIB and the wider Group to embed consistent data management approaches, strengthen capability and support the delivery of the business's data strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence how data is managed across a complex organisation, working at the intersection of business, technology, risk and regulation while helping shape the future of data management, including the adoption of AI-enabled solutions.

What You'll Be Doing Lead the delivery of metadata-related initiatives to meet regulatory obligations, including task management of a small team of colleagues based in India.

Investigate data-related issues, identifying root causes, dependencies, risks and barriers to resolution.

Build strong relationships across CIB, Group functions and technology teams to embed data standards, controls and consistent ways of working.

Work with business and technology teams to ensure critical data assets, controls and data quality requirements are understood, implemented, monitored and improved where required.

Produce and tailor communications, guidance, standards and supporting materials for a wide range of business and technology audiences, including senior leaders.

Support the implementation of data management practices within change initiatives to optimise data value and strengthen risk management.

Contribute to the development of data management strategy, governance and control effectiveness across CIB.Support and engage with the Group's data practitioner community to build data culture and capability.

Contribute to committee and board-level reporting, management information and governance materials.

Champion improvements that strengthen data management capabilities, deliver business value and support innovation, including AI-enabled solutions.

What You’ll Need Proven experience in data management, data governance, metadata management or a related discipline, typically gained over 5+ years within a Business Data Office, Centre of Excellence or similar environment, including leading work streams, initiatives or task management activities.

Demonstrable knowledge of key data management areas, including metadata, data lineage, data quality, master/reference data and data products.

Experience developing and delivering cross-functional data initiatives, building alignment across teams and delivering successful outcomes.

The ability to analyse and interpret data, translating complex concepts into clear insights and recommendations for business teams.

Experience implementing and monitoring data controls, supporting compliance requirements, responding to data incidents and resolving data integrity issues.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across business, technology and control functions, including senior leadership.
