Role OverviewThe team provides significant value to RPC’s law firm by acting as panel solicitors and managing claims made against professionals on an outsourced basis. The team handles pre‑litigated professional indemnity claims from first notification of loss to resolution, as well as claims that fall outside delegated authority, acting as an agent of the insurer.
The role will be based in Bristol with occasional travel to the London office.
Responsibilities- Run a full caseload of professional indemnity claims, applying delegated authority principles and reporting requirements.
- Identify gaps in information and investigate notifications to protect insurer and insured positions.
- Deliver a first‑class claims experience to policyholders and accurate reporting to insurers.
- Negotiate settlement offers within delegated authority and manage settlement approvals.
- Investigate and report on policy cover and response to insurers.
- Actively manage panel solicitors as agent for insurers, including reporting for out‑of‑authority claims.
- Maintain accuracy, quality, and integrity of data in the electronic case management system.
- Support the manager(s) with supervision, training needs, and delivery of desk‑side and group training.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers and suppliers to meet and exceed service levels.
- Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements, Key Performance Indicators, insurers’ reserving policies, and cost control measures.
- Expertise in technical claims knowledge with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and legal frameworks.
- Strong prioritisation, workload management, and the ability to meet tight timescales.
- Capability to support client experience, develop relationships, and think commercially.
- Commitment to a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative firm culture.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of legal and procedural developments, with a collaborative approach to sharing knowledge.
- Strong relationships within the firm to enhance client service.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience working with a case‑management system.
