We are seeking a Legal Assistant to join our Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury team in Bristol. This role provides comprehensive legal and administrative support to three fee earners, assisting with case progression while managing essential departmental administrative functions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with prior experience in Clinical Negligence or Personal Injury who is looking to further develop their expertise within a supportive and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities Legal & Case Support- Provide direct support to three fee earners in progressing clinical negligence and personal injury matters
- Draft routine correspondence and assist with preparation of legal documentation
- Communicate with clients, medical experts, courts, and third parties under supervision
- Liaise with courts and medical professionals to assist with case progression
- Organise and maintain accurate physical and digital case files
- Monitor key dates and deadlines, ensuring timely reminders and follow-ups
- Conduct basic legal research where required
- Assist with preparation of routine legal documents and case bundles
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, procedures, and professional standards
- Open, scan, and distribute incoming post
- Prepare and dispatch outgoing departmental correspondence
- Accurately scan, upload, and manage medical records (including hard copy and CD formats) for disclosure, expert review, or audit purposes
- Maintain well‑organised filing systems (electronic and paper‑based)
- Provide general administrative support including photocopying, data entry, and ad hoc tasks as required
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Clinical Negligence law
- Meet agreed billing and productivity targets
- Follow best practice procedures to mitigate professional negligence risk
- Provide support to colleagues during periods of absence (e.g., holiday or sickness)
- Handle all client matters professionally and efficiently
