The focus is end-to-end subcontract package procurement (plus major materials), partnering closely with project and commercial teams to deliver best value and manage commercial risk.
Location:
Flexible / UK-wide (regular travel to Bristol required)
Key responsibilities (summary)
Lead end-to-end procurement for subcontract packages and key materials (tender to order placement).
Build and maintain project procurement schedules, tracking progress against programme and reporting performance.
Run tendering activities: market engagement, tender lists, enquiry packs, evaluation, clarifications, and recommendations.
Negotiate and place robust subcontract orders aligned to project scope, programme, and commercial requirements.
Manage and develop supplier/subcontractor relationships, including performance reviews and continuous improvement.
Provide procurement input into prequalification and tender responses, including procurement strategy and supply chain options.
Support the wider supply chain strategy: market intelligence, competitor insight, and identifying innovation/value opportunities.
Promote safe, sustainable delivery and ensure procurement activity aligns with internal governance and controls.

Proven experience procuring subcontract packages within civil engineering / infrastructure environments.
Strong understanding of subcontract terms & conditions and commercial risk.
Track record of running tender processes, evaluation, and negotiation.
Confident stakeholder management with project teams, commercial/QS functions, and supply chain partners.
Willingness to travel to Bristol as required.
Desirable
CIPS membership/qualification (or working toward).
Experience across regulated/utilities-style programmes (e.g., water/environment frameworks), though not required.
Candidates from a QS / Cost Consultant / Commercial background who have led subcontract procurement and want to transition into procurement are welcomed.
What's on offer / benefits (to be confirmed with the hiring business)
Flexible location with planned travel to Bristol (rather than fixed daily office attendance).
Opportunity to own procurement activity for high-value subcontract packages with strong visibility across project teams.
Exposure to a mature supply chain function with scope to influence strategy, performance, and value.
