Service Engineer

Location: Field Based (Bristol)
Salary: £42,000 - £46,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

The Opportunity

Join a specialist engineering business as a Service Engineer, supporting healthcare and decontamination equipment at customer sites. This is a highly specialised role, and we are particularly interested in engineers with proven experience within the decontamination sector, working with Washer Disinfectors, Sterilisers and Autoclaves.

You'll use your electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills to service, maintain, test and validate critical equipment that helps healthcare environments operate safely, efficiently and in accordance with stringent industry standards. Working in a field-based capacity, you'll support customers through planned maintenance, reactive breakdowns, compliance testing and technical support activities.

Key Responsibilities of a Service Engineer
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing.
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs on electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems.
  • Respond to breakdowns and emergency callouts when required.
  • Complete equipment testing, validation and compliance documentation.
  • Provide training and technical support to customers.
  • Maintain accurate service records and reports.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
About You

We are specifically looking to speak with engineers who have strong experience within the decontamination industry and can demonstrate hands-on knowledge of:

  • Washer Disinfectors
  • Steam Sterilisers
  • Autoclaves
  • Decontamination and sterile services equipment
  • Equipment testing and validation procedures
  • Regulatory and compliance requirements within healthcare environments

Ideally, you will hold relevant qualifications relating to decontamination equipment and have experience carrying out testing, validation and certification activities on sterilisers, washers and autoclaves.

In addition, you will have:

  • An engineering qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working in a field service, maintenance or technical support environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload.

Please note: Candidates with proven decontamination experience and qualifications relating to Washer Disinfectors, Sterilisers and Autoclaves will be strongly preferred, as this is a key requirement for the position.
