Assistant Team Manager – Children’s Services

Are you an agency worker looking to step into seniority, or a permanent member of staff not getting the opportunity to progress? Agency roles can be attractive for many reasons (that’s completely understood), and staying put can feel safe — but what could a change offer you?

A rare opportunity has opened up for an Assistant Team Manager within the Children with Disabilities service at Gloucestershire County Council — ideal for an experienced Senior SW or Advanced Prac ready to take the next step in their career. The team is made up of yourself (the Assistant Team Manager), Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, four Social Workers and an ASYE, ensuring a close knit, stable environment.

Package

/ Benefits:
  • Salary up to £51,356
  • Up to £8000 relocation package
  • 4,000 welcome payment+ £2,000 annual retention payment
  • 25.5 days annual leave (rising to 30.5 after 5 years)
  • Flexible/agile working opportunities
  • Good / Outstanding Ofsted (inspection done in the last couple of months)

As Assistant Team Manager, you'll help the TM lead and support a team of Social Workers to deliver high-quality services. You'll ensure statutory duties and best practices are met, provide case oversight with a clear understanding of risk, and align team plans with strategic objectives.

The role involves managing workflow, overseeing quality through supervision, observation, and audits, and contributing to the development of the quality assurance framework. Strong relationships with internal teams and partner agencies will be key to ensuring effective support and protection for vulnerable children and young people across the county.

This position offers long-term prospects in a stable, values-led authority located in one of England’s most scenic counties.

Applicants must hold a Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.
