Our client is a leading fit‑out and refurbishment contractor, delivering exceptional commercial, retail and Cat A / Cat B office projects across the UK. With a strong pipeline of work in the North West, the business is expanding its Manchester team and seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to oversee the commercial and financial performance of multiple high‑profile projects.
The RoleAs Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of the commercial function for projects ranging from £250k to £10m, ensuring robust financial control, risk management and value delivery throughout the project lifecycle. You will lead a team of Quantity Surveyors and collaborate closely with project, design and client teams to ensure every scheme is delivered profitably and to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all commercial activities across Cat A, Cat B and retail fit‑out projects.
- Oversee cost planning, tendering, procurement and contract administration.
- Manage and develop a team of Quantity Surveyors.
- Produce accurate financial forecasts, valuations and cost reports.
- Negotiate and manage subcontracts and supplier agreements.
- Ensure compliance with JCT contracts and company commercial procedures.
- Work collaboratively with clients, consultants and the delivery team to achieve project and business objectives.
- Support pre‑construction and bid teams with commercial input.
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within fit‑out, refurbishment or interiors.
- Strong background in commercial, retail and Cat A/Cat B office projects.
- Excellent knowledge of JCT contract administration.
- Financially astute with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
- Confident leading commercial teams and managing multiple live projects.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar (RICS desirable).
