Job descriptionThe Portfolios, Programmes and Projects (PPP) Service supports the council to deliver its strategic priorities through transformation, change and capital construction projects and programmes.
The work we do is determined and prioritised by the council's senior management team and extends across the whole organisation, providing a challenging, varied and rewarding range of opportunities.
We are an established and experienced team of Portfolio Management and programme and project delivery professionals.
Our project delivery team consists of Programme Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Project Support Officers.
This Project Manager role works as part of the Change and Transformation portfolio.
Experience- Successfully managing the implementation and re-platforming of IT applications
- Delivering projects related to public spaces like parks
You will manage day-to-day planning and delivery of projects – ensuring they are delivered on time, to budget and to the right quality – using Bristol City Council's standard project management methodology.
To be successful in this role candidates will be able to translate managers' ideas into well-planned and controlled projects; provide leadership to dispersed teams working across a broad range of specialisms; and balance the governance requirements of the organisation with the need to deliver at pace.
This is a dynamic role, in a fast-paced delivery environment you will have the opportunity to contribute and make a tangible difference through supporting and enabling the organisation to deliver real and impactful outcomes.

- Experience in a Project Manager role within a change environment with detailed knowledge of project and industry principles, methods, techniques & tools associated with the project lifecycle and how to apply them to best effect and measurable benefit.
- Demonstrable skills in the application of effective tools and techniques to plan, sequence and dependency manage – and using these to effect when things don't go to plan.
- Excellent organisation, time management and prioritisation skills with the ability to demonstrate consistent completion of assigned tasks within agreed time‑scales, costs and quality constraints.
- Evidence of success in building and managing effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of authority; building and managing effective project teams.
