The Extra Care Charitable Trust is seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to join our team on a permanent basis at Stoke Gifford Village
. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and high-quality living environment for our residents.
As Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee the effective operation, maintenance, and compliance of buildings, systems, and facilities across the village, ensuring they remain safe, efficient, and well-presented. Leading and supporting a small maintenance team, you will be responsible for planning workloads, allocating resources, monitoring performance, and fostering a positive, collaborative working environment. Your ability to motivate others, provide guidance, and maintain high standards of service delivery will be essential to success in the role.
Combining strong supervisory and organisational skills with sound technical expertise, you will coordinate maintenance activities, manage contractors, ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, and respond effectively to operational priorities. You will play a key role in driving service excellence and contributing to an outstanding resident experience.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help create and sustain a thriving community where residents can enjoy independence, comfort, and peace of mind in a safe, well‑maintained environment.

Maintenance Supervisor - Hours: 37.5 hours per week
- Salary: £39,062.75 per annum

- Lead, support, and develop maintenance teams across multiple complex sites, setting clear expectations, allocating workloads, and ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
- Use a strong trade background to carry out minor repairs where appropriate, while promoting a high‑performing, in‑house repairs culture focused on efficiency, cost control, and excellent service to residents.
- Actively engage with residents through meetings, forums, and consultations to resolve maintenance concerns, improve service delivery, and support local asset management goals.
- Work in partnership with Regional Building Surveyors to deliver KPIs and performance targets, including regular monitoring and review of contractor performance.
- Carry out routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and facilities, identifying and prioritising repair needs while ensuring compliance with UK building regulations and health and safety legislation.
- Coordinate and oversee external contractors, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, providing technical guidance and ensuring swift resolution to minimise disruption to residents.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and asset histories to support effective planning and reporting.
- Foster a collaborative, resident‑focused approach and promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across all locations.
- 5+ years’ experience in large, complex building maintenance, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high‑performing team
- Proactive, solutions‑focused, and responsive to changing priorities and emergencies
- Detail‑oriented with accurate record‑keeping and documentation skills
