Electronics Assembly / SMT Technician
Salary: £30,000 - £33,000Job Type: PermanentLocation: Site-based (local)
Reed Engineering are currently working in partnership with a well-established and growing Contract Electronics Manufacturing (CEM) business who are looking to recruit an experienced Electronics Assembly / SMT Technician to join their production team.
This opportunity would suit a hands-on electronics solderer with experience working to IPC standards, who enjoys variety, quality-driven work, and being part of a close-knit, collaborative team producing a wide range of electronic products.
The Role
As an Electronics Assembly / SMT Technician, you will play a key role in the production of high-quality electronic assemblies. The role is primarily focused on precision hand soldering, with additional exposure to wider SMT and production activities.
While experience operating SMT pick-and-place machinery is advantageous, it is not essential, as full training and cross-skilling will be provided for the right individual.
This is a business-critical hire due to continued growth and increasing workload, offering long-term stability and a varied workload rather than repetitive production line work.
Key Responsibilities
- High-quality hand soldering of PCB assemblies to IPC standards
- Fine pitch soldering, including 0402 and some 0201 components
- Supporting SMT assembly across the production process
- Assisting with SMT pick-and-place operations (training provided if required)
- Electronics assembly, rework, modification, and inspection
- Working collaboratively within a small production team
- Supporting a cross-trained, flexible approach across manufacturing activities
About You
Essential:
- Proven experience in electronics hand soldering
- Experience working to IPC standards (certification desirable but not essential)
- Fine pitch soldering experience (minimum 0402)
- Background in electronics manufacturing or SMT environments
- Comfortable working in a hands-on production setting
Desirable:
- Experience operating or programming SMT pick-and-place machines
- Familiarity with SMT equipment such as Hanwha / Samsung machines
- Experience working within a Contract Electronics Manufacturing (CEM) environment
What's On Offer
- Competitive salary of £30,000 - £33,000, dependent on experience
- Permanent position within a stable, growing business
- Small-team environment with a relaxed and supportive culture
- Opportunity to cross-train and develop SMT machine skills
- One-stage interview process, including a practical soldering assessment

If you are an experienced electronics solderer looking for a varied, hands-on role offering long-term stability and development opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.
