Nisbets Limited are currently recruiting for an Environmental Technician to join our Facilities Management team and play a key role in ensuring waste and recycling services are delivered effectively, supporting environmental compliance and sustainability goals.
This role will be based at our Fourth Way Site
, with flexibility to rotate across different locations as required.
The Shift will run 2pm to 11pm Monday to Friday
While this is open to all, we are keen to hear from existing warehouse colleagues who may be doing some of this role already as part of their existing Operative role. Please Also
Note:
We are looking to appoint the Team Leader position first, so there may be a delay in the process for these roles. It is envisage the team will be go live early January.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing waste segregation, operating recycling equipment, and maintaining tidy and compliant recycling areas. This is a hands‑on role that requires collaboration with colleagues across operational areas to maximise recycling rates, reduce general waste costs, and ensure safe and efficient processes.
You will lead initiatives to improve waste handling, support operational teams with segregation best practices, and provide cover across sites when needed. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about the environment and committed to driving positive results.
Key Accountabilities- Operate recycling equipment and machinery, including balers.
- Segregate waste streams to avoid contamination and maximise rebates.
- Distribute, collect, and empty bins from operational areas.
- Maintain tidy and compliant recycling and waste areas.
- Report equipment faults and request supply orders.
- Manage waste collections and liaise with carriers.
- Drive a counterbalance truck and Luton van (training provided) for bin and material distribution.
- Provide absence cover at other sites when required.
- Support warehouse cleaning and occasional grounds maintenance.
- Adhere to company safety procedures, legal requirements, and training for all equipment.
- Capabilities: Passion for the environment, teamwork, ability to work independently, good communication skills.
- Skills: Operating baler equipment (training provided), counterbalance truck driving (training provided), valid driving licence (desirable)
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work unsupervised and take initiative.
