CNC Machinists – Turner Programmer, Miller Setter & Grinder Setter
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Bristol
Shift Pattern:
- Week 1: 6:00am – 2:00pm Monday to Thursday, 6:00am – 11:00am Friday
- Week 2: 2:00pm – 10:00pm Monday to Thursday, 11:00am – 4:00pm Friday
Salary: £20.00 - £21.25 per hour (DOE)
The OpportunityWe are currently recruiting for experienced CNC Machinists to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer based in Bristol. We are interested in hearing from skilled professionals with experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
- CNC Turner Programmer – Fanuc Controls
- CNC Miller Setter – Fanuc or Heidenhain Controls
- CNC Grinder Setter – Toyoda IPS Controls
Working within a modern manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in producing high-precision components to exact customer specifications, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency and safety are maintained.
Key Responsibilities- Program, set and operate CNC machinery within your area of expertise.
- Manufacture precision-engineered components to engineering drawings and specifications.
- Set tooling, fixtures, work holding equipment and machine offsets.
- Carry out machine set‑ups and first‑off inspections.
- Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, process sheets and inspection requirements.
- Ensure components are produced to required tolerances and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot tooling, programming and machine‑related issues.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and housekeeping activities.
- Work closely with engineering, quality and production teams to continuously improve manufacturing processes.
- Proven experience programming, setting and operating CNC turning centres.
- Strong knowledge of Fanuc controls.
- Ability to programme online and edit G‑code as required.
- Experience with multi‑axis turning centres is advantageous.
- Proven experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Experience using Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls.
- Strong understanding of tooling, offsets and machining parameters.
- Ability to work from engineering drawings and specifications.
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC grinding machines.
- Experience using Toyoda IPS controls is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of grinding processes and precision machining techniques.
- Experience working to tight tolerances and high‑quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds and speeds.
- Experience working within a precision engineering environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good problem‑solving and fault‑finding abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Overtime paid at 1.5x rate when available.
