Role Overview We are looking for a Press Brake Operator to safely and efficiently operate CNC press brake equipment, forming steel and other metal products to customer specifications and required quality standards. The role involves setting and adjusting CNC press brake machinery, selecting tooling, working from engineering drawings and production information, handling steel and metal products, completing production paperwork and supporting the wider processing operation.

This is a rotating shift role: 6.00am-2.00pm one week and 2.00pm-10.00pm the next, 37½ hours per week excluding breaks. Starting salary is £30,970.50 per annum, with a grading matrix that provides increased salary as skills develop. Our warehouse and processing environment can be physically demanding, dirty and subject to temperature variations, including hot conditions in summer and cold conditions in winter.

Key Responsibilities Safely operate and set up CNC press brake machinery to form steel and other metal products. Read and understand engineering drawings, job instructions, production schedules and customer requirements. Select and fit tooling and adjust machine settings, programmes, bend angles and back gauges to achieve required dimensions and tolerances. Apply bend allowances, deductions and material requirements where required. Safely load, position and handle materials, using overhead cranes and other lifting equipment where trained and authorised.

Measure and inspect finished components, identifying and reporting defects or quality issues. Maintain material identification, labelling and traceability. Complete production records, job paperwork and system transactions accurately. Carry out routine machinery checks and report faults, damage or maintenance requirements. Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working area. Follow all Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures. Work effectively as part of the processing team to meet production and customer requirements.

Support other processing and warehouse duties and continuous improvement activities when required. Experience and Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, sheet-metal, fabrication or steel processing. Experience setting and operating a press brake, ideally CNC. Ability to read engineering drawings and understand dimensions, angles and tolerances. Ability to accurately measure material and finished components. Experience working with steel, metal or other industrial materials.

Good understanding of Health and Safety and safe working practices. Ability to work safely with heavy materials and industrial machinery. Experience using overhead cranes or other lifting equipment. Skills and Competencies Accurate and detail-focused approach with a commitment to quality. Reliable, conscientious and safety-focused. Good communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to meet production targets without compromising safety or quality.
