We are currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our team on Knightstone Ward.

Knightstone Ward is a busy 12-bed elective surgical ward specialising in arthroplasty care, including patients undergoing hip and knee replacement surgery.

This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role, requiring excellent communication and problem-solving skills, alongside the ability to remain flexible, resilient and responsive in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with the ward sister/charge nurse and multidisciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining policies, standards of nursing care and staff development, as part of the ward team.

To be flexible in approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.

This role encompasses Clinical management of a group of patients within a defined Ward/Unit. The post holder will be responsible to the Nurse Manager for the timely patient interventions caring for orthopaedic and surgical elective inpatients.

In partnership with other professionals and disciplines, develop measurable patient care plans/goals. The process should include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care from admission to timely transfer or discharge.

The expectation would be to understand and support enhanced recovery programme including Nurse Led discharge.

Ensure nursing documentation is maintained, accurate and timely in line with the Trust standard.

To demonstrate awareness and compliance with Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. To work towards promoting this to others.

Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients.

Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.

Promote a clean environment and the prevention of hospital acquired infection.

Respond positively and act promptly to resolve problems/issues for patients/carers, utilising complaints procedures and PALs where appropriate.
