Paediatric Staff Nurse – Daisy Ward

Closing date: 29 June 2026

We are looking for experienced Band 5 Staff Nurses to join Daisy Ward, a 10‑bed unit with a 6‑bed Neurosurgical, Trauma and Burns High Dependency Unit and a 4‑bed Burns Unit. The role requires completed preceptorship and experience in critical care or burns nursing.

Ideal Candidate
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to forge and maintain relationships with clinical and non‑clinical staff
  • Ability to manage a busy workload, prioritise and make decisions quickly
Main Duties

Responsibilities include providing high‑quality nursing care in a high‑dependency and burns environment, supporting the multidisciplinary team, teaching, supervision, and ensuring patient safety.

Training & Qualifications
  • RSCN/RN child branch (NMC registered) or equivalent
  • Current NMC registration
  • Work toward relevant university accredited post‑basic study programmes, e.g., teaching and assessing course
Knowledge & Experience
  • Broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment
  • Interest in the clinical area
  • Experience of taking charge
  • Experience of teaching
Skills & Abilities
  • Competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with patients, carers and MDT
  • Competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids
  • Ability to take the lead and ensure appropriate action in response to deteriorating patients
  • Clinical decision making ability
  • Teaching and supervisory skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Professional conduct
  • Self‑motivated, team player, recognition of own limits
