On the 1 August 2026, the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent will form a pioneering new multi-university group called London and South
- East (LASE) University Group.

Should you join us, you will be employed by LASE but will work as part of the University of Greenwich academic division, contributing to its distinct strengths, community and identity while also being part of a wider group that brings together the scale, resilience and shared ambition of both universities.

Through LASE we aim to deliver outstanding education, impactful research, and meaningful regional and global impact.

We seek an experienced, internationally renowned researcher to fill the post of Associate Professor of Safety and Resilience Modelling (0.5 FTE). The role will sit within the Centre for Safety, Resilience and Protective Security (CSRPS) and you will be based in the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences on the World Heritage site at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich.

Impact project you will contribute to tackling major societal challenges affecting the environment, quality of life, safety, security, and the economy. The role will involve driving a core CSRPS research theme (e.g. fundamental crowd dynamics / pedestrian mechanics) by attracting multi-year research project funding, enhancing staff expertise and competency across CSRPS, and supporting the development of CSRPS modelling capability. Importantly, you will also play a key part in ensuring the longevity of the group's research by contributing to strategy and driving adoption of new technology and methodologies.

To achieve this, you will need a proven track record in research and development, data analysis, team leading and funding development (through industry and/academic pathways). This will be coupled with subject matter expertise in modelling and in human behaviour, enabling you to expand M34

Impact’s and CSRPS’s capacity to conduct high-quality work in these areas.
