Sous Chef - Seasonal Fine Dining Kitchen 36k OTE Package The Square Bristol

We’re on the hunt for a passionate, talented Sous Chef to join our tight‑knit brigade at The Square – a fine dining restaurant and top‑tier events venue at the heart of Bristol’s vibrant Clifton scene.
As our new Sous Chef you’ll work alongside a team of six chefs and three kitchen porters, producing bold seasonal modern British/European dishes in a kitchen that’s all about craft, creativity and camaraderie. From à la carte to weddings, private dining to member events your day‑to‑day will be varied, rewarding and full of flavour.

- Taking a lead on service alongside the Head Chef and running the kitchen when he’s off

- Training, supporting, mentoring and developing junior members of the brigade
- Supporting the Head Chef in the hiring process for junior chefs and kitchen porters, including overseeing and assessing trial candidates
- Ensuring smooth, high‑quality output during busy services and private events
- Helping develop menus that celebrate seasonality and showcase your ideas
- Collaborating with the front‑of‑house team to deliver a seamless guest experience
- Being a positive, motivating presence in the kitchen – especially when the pressure is on
- Strong experience in high‑quality fresh food kitchens (fine dining or events is a plus)
- Strong leadership and people skills, with experience leading and supervising kitchen teams
- An ability to build trust and play your part in lifting team performance
- A calm, positive approach – even when the pass is on fire
- Ambition, a sense of humour and a genuine love for food
