Shop Manager

Abatec is currently recruiting for an experienced Shop Manager to join a busy, well-established food retail business based in Cotham (Bristol).

This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shop, leading the team, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring high standards across food safety, stock, presentation and sales.

The successful candidate will have previous experience within retail, bakery, café, hospitality or food service and will be confident managing both people and daily operations.

What’s on Offer

 * £14.50 per hour during training

* Increase to £15.00 per hour once fully trained, depending on experience

* 37–40 hours per week

* Working 5 days out of 7

* Every second weekend, with additional weekends only when required

* Opportunity to work additional hours

* Permanent position following a successful 3-month probation period

Key Responsibilities

* Manage the daily operation of a busy retail shop

* Lead, motivate and develop a team to deliver outstanding customer service

* Ensure food safety, hygiene and Health & Safety standards are maintained

* Manage stock ordering, stock control and stock rotation

* Drive sales, profitability and minimise waste

* Produce staff rotas and manage holiday and sickness requests

* Recruit, train and coach new team members

* Carry out performance reviews and support employee development

* Handle customer queries and resolve complaints professionally

* Maintain high standards of merchandising and shop presentation

* Operate EPOS systems, cash handling and end-of-day procedures

* Open and close the store securely

We're looking for someone with:

* Previous experience as a Shop Manager, Store Manager, Retail Manager, Branch Manager or Assistant Manager

* Strong people management and leadership skills

* Excellent customer service experience

* Commercial awareness with the ability to drive sales

* Experience managing stock, ordering and waste

* Good IT skills, including EPOS systems

* Strong organisational and communication skills

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and lead by example
