Biodiversity Net Gain Specialist (UK wide)

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Biodiversity Net Gain Specialist to lead the development and delivery of BNG strategies across projects. This pivotal role shapes our environmental impact, ensures compliance with emerging legislation, and drives nature-positive outcomes. This is a UK-wide role with opportunities in our offices across Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Peterborough and Reading.

• Lead the application of biodiversity net gain approaches to projects, including use of biodiversity metrics and design and delivery of net gain solutions.
• Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to ensure terrestrial ecology requirements are recognised, designed into projects, and maximize biodiversity and ecosystem service outcomes.
• Support and engage with the Geospatial team to deliver innovative digital assessment approaches.
• Ensure quality standards by delivering assessments and reports through QA protocols.
• Contribute to wider Nature Positive offerings, including natural capital and ecological net gain approaches.
• Leverage biodiversity net gain experience to support other ecology deliverables such as Ecological Impact Assessments and Habitats Regulations Appraisals.
• Develop and share skills to build team and individual capability, including engagement with global communities of practice and external communications and training events.

• Detailed working knowledge of biodiversity net gain, including the Defra Statutory Biodiversity Metric and related policy drivers.
• Experience in designing for biodiversity net gain, including habitat restoration, enhancement and creation techniques.
• Technical reporting skills aligned with national legislation and guidance, including habitat management and monitoring plans.
• Effective client, stakeholder and regulator engagement.
• Leadership skills in ecological input to projects.
• Understanding of project consenting and construction.
• Chartered membership of a professional body (or clear path to chartership).
