Our Security and Parking team are seeking pro‑active team players with experience of dealing with members of the public. Transferable skills from hospitality backgrounds would be considered alongside current security experience or those with a police or military background.
You will conduct patrols, respond to incidents, write reports, and enforce the site traffic policy. IT literacy and digital competence will be necessary for receiving and reporting on handheld devices. Your ability to connect and quickly build rapport with individuals to diffuse and deescalate complex situations will ensure our staff, patients and visitors enjoy a safe environment and a positive experience on our sites.
Your ability to communicate clearly with calm confidence will be vital in managing potential confrontations. The ability to put people at ease and make calm, quick, justified decisions with autonomy will be crucial as you may be interacting with individuals with mental health difficulties, dependency, learning difficulties or who are distressed or confused.

You must:- demonstrate previous experience in a security role
- hold a full UK driving license
- be able to undertake the physical and mental demands of the role

Position DetailsAs a Security and Parking Officer at North Bristol NHS Trust you will provide a pro‑active, well‑presented, professional, uniformed security presence working unsupervised days, nights and weekends. The position is full‑time working 37.5 hours per week with shift patterns on a rota basis including days, nights, and weekends.
You will:- respond to incidents on Trust property including undertaking investigations into suspicious behaviours or criminal activities such as theft and anti‑social behaviour
- provide a security presence to support clinical staff, attending clinical incidents to provide support and assistance to clinical staff
- protect Trust property from malicious damage and theft promoting a safe, positive environment to reduce the potential for crime
- accurately record every incident, gathering all relevant information, and completing detailed reports
- communicate clearly and effectively with the ability to listen and empathise
- on a rotational basis, maintain an effective security presence in the Emergency Department (ED) areas, promptly intercepting poor behaviours and ensuring the ED patient service is not impacted or disrupted
- assist with fire alarm evacuations
- uphold and enforce the Trust Parking policy
- Provide a pro‑active, well‑presented, professional, uniformed security presence for North Bristol Trust.
- Take the lead responding to incidents on Trust property including undertaking investigations into suspicious behaviours or criminal activities such as theft and anti‑social behaviour.
- Remaining calm and professional under pressure during incidents, especially highly stressed and emotive events.
- Be ready to respond to every incident, always being prepared in case of alarm activations, violence & aggression, and other significant events. Responding to all security incidents with a high sense of urgency.
- Where called upon to support clinical staff, assist with the detention of patients under the Mental Health Act 2007 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
- Provide a security presence to support clinical staff. Attend clinical incidents to provide support and assistance to clinical staff including, where necessary, the appropriate and lawful use of clinical holding and physical restraint.
- Ensure the safety, security and welfare of Trust staff, patients, and others. Protect Trust property from malicious damage and theft. Promote a safe, positive environment to reduce the potential for crime.
