About Homes & Neighbourhoods

Kirklees Homes & Neighbourhoods is responsible for almost 23,000 homes across Kirklees. We have high expectations of our teams to provide Service Excellence to our customers to achieve our vision “Striving to be an excellent landlord by putting tenants and communities first”. Several functions exist within Homes and Neighbourhoods, including Housing Management, Income Management, Older People's Support, Partnerships, Customer Experience, Tenant Engagement, Fire Safety, and Tenancy Enablement.

It is an exciting time to join our Employment Support Team as we develop our offer and explore new service delivery approaches. The Employment Support Team is funded through the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) to support tenants and household members residing within Homes & Neighbourhoods properties, and it is part of the Tenancy Enablement service. Working across Homes and Neighbourhoods (H&N), estates, and within community settings is a key part of the role;

therefore, travel to various locations to carry out the job duties is required, and a full driving licence is desirable (exceptions may be made for disabled applicants).

Employment Support & Wellbeing Officer (One vacancy)

The main requirement of the Housing Officer (Employment Support and Well-Being Officer) role will be to support the Team Leader in working in partnership with key stakeholders to engage with tenants and household members to provide all Homes and Neighbourhoods customers with an Employment and Well-Being Service.

  • Engage with tenants and household members to provide person‑centred Careers Information, Advice & Guidance (CIAG).
  • Promote the work of Homes & Neighbourhoods (H&N) across the wider council and to external partners and organisations.
  • Maximise opportunities for Homes & Neighbourhoods (H&N), tenants and household members by working with a range of Kirklees council teams and partners to increase tenants' opportunities to develop employability skills in growth areas through access to adult learning provision, taster days, and work experience opportunities.
  • Participate in the delivery of employability programmes that meet H&N customers' needs in collaboration with key stakeholders, including Jobcentre Plus, C&K Careers, Kirklees College, Adult Community Learning and Skills Provision.
  • Contribute towards delivering innovative cross‑cutting projects to meet the needs of H&N customers' priorities in the areas of Employment and Skills, Children & Young People and Health and Well‑being.
  • Work with vulnerable customers who may need additional support via our service to help them access appropriate well‑being services via other partners across Kirklees and the voluntary sector to improve their health outcomes, including mental health. We support tenants to help them reach their own positive outcomes to sustain their tenancy and live fulfilling lives.

Please see the attached focus sheet, which outlines the other key focus areas of work.

This job is subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level; a conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.
