What we are looking for
We are excited to be recruiting into our St George’s House team. We are the only high support accommodation-based service for young people in Bristol and pioneer the way for supporting young people in the city.
Do you have a desire to support young people? Would you like to develop excellent support and housing management experience? Do you want the flexibility of a part-time role? Maybe looking for a career change? If you answered yes to any of those, we want to hear from you.
We aim to build a more diverse workforce that reflects the young people we support, including those from migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking communities. We therefore warmly encourage applications from individuals who are currently under-represented at 1625ip, including people from Black/Black British backgrounds, Muslim and male candidates, and anyone with relevant lived experience.
If you need an adjustment to be made to any part of the recruitment process, please let us know as soon as possible.
Who are we?We are a leading youth homelessness charity based in the Southwest, working with over 1,500 young people. At 1625ip we are driven by Social Justice and Passion: we strive to do something that matters and take pride in seeing the results of our work in social outcomes and improving young people’s lives.
How we workAt 1625ip our work is rooted in Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE) and Trauma-Informed Practice (TIP). Our Psychologically Informed Framework shapes how we build relationships, use our spaces, and support young people. This means we prioritise safety, trust, collaboration, and understanding the impact of trauma in every interaction. You don’t need prior experience in PIE or TIP to apply – we’ll support you to learn and develop these approaches in the role.
Whatyou will be doing
- Using a creative and flexible approach to facilitate a variety of positive engagement over weekends.
- Being well organised, efficient, and effective to support housing management tasks, from running an activity to helping clean a room.
- Remaining vigilant and responsible to ensure the security of the building when on shift.
- Applying your understanding of the complex needs of young people and problem‑solving skills to manage challenging behaviour when it arises.
- Co‑ordinating and co‑delivering activities on site, including residents’ meetings, to encourage young people to occupy their time meaningfully and get involved.
You will be working weekends, including some Fridays, and will be based in the High Support Team. Your line manager will be the St George’s House Senior Project Worker.
