Family Support Worker
Two vacancies are available at Symes House, Hartcliffe. The role is based within the Safeguarding teams alongside social workers and key workers.
Key responsibilities- Work with children and parents to help them implement the family plan developed by social workers or key workers.
- Supervise family‑time between children and their parents when the children are in care: collect children to and from foster homes, transport to venues, supervise the time parents spend with their child, record key events, and where necessary exercise authority to guide parents who are not following the session plan.
- Provide peer support by meeting regularly with the Senior Family Support Worker.
- Experience working with children and families, with a strong understanding of the role statutory Children’s Services play in their lives.
- Knowledge of equity and the ability to respect diversity; skills to support families experiencing multiple disadvantages or discrimination.
- Understanding of vulnerabilities faced by families dealing with poor mental health, addiction or domestic abuse.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, organisational and time‑management skills, ability to work flexibly and under pressure.
- Commitment to working as a team member and partnering with families and multi‑agency partners.
- Enhanced DBS check required; sponsorship not available.
- Commitment to training and development, regular supervision and team meetings.
