The Substance Use Support Team(SUST) isnow in itssixthyear of workingwithindividuals experiencing multiple disadvantages to supporttheirengagementwith drug and alcoholserviceand tohelpthemmaintaintheir accommodation.
You will be working with people experiencing complex challenges who have a history of rough sleeping and homelessness, in a variety of accommodation types, who require additional support to access or engage with drug and alcohol services. You will be able to manage challenges, adapt approaches to engagement as needed, communicate clearly with others and support positive change.
Working closely with Horizons Bristol (Drug and Alcohol Services), a variety of housing providers, Adult Social Care, health care providers and a range of allied services you will ensure that appropriate support and treatment is wrapped around the client to help them reach their goals. Therefore, the ability to work collaboratively with others will be key to the smooth running and successful delivery of this service.
As part of the teams Trauma Informed Recovery Pathway,you willbeworkingwith individuals who have experienced complex trauma to prepare and co-ordinate admission todetox and residential rehab placements.
The post would suit someone who hassignificantexperienceof working with this client group, a good understanding ofdrug and alcohol interventions,harm reductionapproachesand the ability to support people through change. You will need to beable to work independently across the city,applying a holistic and proactiveapproachto support clients through awidevariety of challenges they may experience. You will work collaboratively with housing and homelessness services to support clients accessing appropriate move-onoptions.
You will have the opportunity to present ideas and feedback from the frontline to support the development of the project, as well as being able to contribute to the development of a team environment that encourages growth, mutualsupportand best practice. You have the potential to bring about change for some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people in Bristol. Please note that an Enhanced DBS check will take place as part of the recruitment process.
For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.
For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
