Senior Frontend Developer

Senior Front-End Developer | Bristol On-Site | Permanent | Up to £80,000 p.a.

Peaple Talent have partnered with a fast-growing AI start-up looking to recruit a Senior Front-End Developer on a full-time permanent basis.

Our client is seeking a highly capable Senior Front-End Engineer to join an expanding engineering group building an AI-driven communications platform. This role is ideal for someone with deep React and Next.js expertise who enjoys crafting polished user experiences, influencing technical direction, and supporting the growth of less experienced engineers.

You’ll play a central role in shaping frontend architecture, delivering performant and accessible interfaces, and raising standards across the frontend codebase.

• Design, develop, and maintain modern, responsive user interfaces using React, Next.js, Type Script and contemporary frontend tooling.
• Work closely with backend engineers to integrate APIs and deliver cohesive, end-to-end user journeys.
• Continuously refine UI performance, scalability, accessibility, and usability.
• Support junior developers through mentoring, code reviews, and hands‑on guidance.
• Lead technical conversations within the frontend space and help establish shared best practices.
• Collaborate with design and product teams to turn ideas into refined, production‑ready experiences.
• Influence frontend architectural decisions, including state management approaches, performance optimisation, and code structure.
• Assess and introduce new libraries, frameworks, or tools where they provide clear value.
• Ensure frontend solutions remain maintainable and scalable as the platform evolves.
• Define and apply testing approaches across unit, integration, and end‑to‑end layers.
• Monitor and improve frontend performance, SEO, and Core Web Vitals, particularly within Next.js applications.
• Diagnose and resolve complex cross-browser and cross-device issues.

• Previous experience of commercial frontend development, with strong hands‑on experience in React and Next.js
• Excellent knowledge of JavaScript, Type Script, HTML, CSS and modern frontend ecosystems
• Experience using state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand, Recoil, or similar.
• Solid understanding of responsive design, accessibility standards, and UI/UX principles.
• Previous experience mentoring developers or leading frontend initiatives.
• Familiarity with modern build tooling (e.g. Webpack, Vite, Turbopack) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, pragmatic approach to problem-solving.

• Experience working with design systems or component libraries such as Tailwind, MUI, or Storybook.
• Exposure to backend or full‑stack development, including Node.js, serverless platforms, or API design.
• Hands‑on experience with performance profiling, SEO optimisation, and Core Web Vitals.
• Knowledge of testing tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress or Playwright.
