Driver – Hospital Sterile Services Unit (HSSU)

Our Hospital Sterile Services Unit (HSSU) transports sterile and disinfected surgical equipment to our local hospital network. If you have a full driving licence with a C1 entitlement which allows you to drive rigid vehicles up to 7.5 tons Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) and hold a digital tachograph card, you could enjoy the benefits of joining the UK’s largest Healthcare Charity.

A full Driver Qualification card (CPC – Certificate of Professional Competence) is advantageous but full training is available.

Eligibility

• Full driving licence with C1 entitlement.
• Digital tachograph card.
• Full Driver Qualification card (CPC) is advantageous.
• Manual handling capability and willingness to handle transport trolleys weighing upwards of 250 kg.
• Basic knowledge of current driver hour legislation.

• Collect and make deliveries to customers.
• Keep equipment and delivery vehicles in good working order and report any faults or defects.
• Maintain a clean, tidy work environment and identify stock issues as they arise.
• Maintain accurate tachograph records and documentation.
• Be flexible with working hours – shifts operate between 4 am and 9 pm, Monday to Friday, with varying times on Saturdays.
