Reporting to the Lead CAD Engineer, the CAD Engineer will have some knowledge of current British Standards relating to Fire Detection and experience in the design, development and application of CAD drawing and documentation in a large-scale project environment.

The successful candidate will need to manage all relevant aspects of the project ensuring tasks and objectives are completed on time.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the company CAD template database
  • Create and amend fire alarm system drawings using AutoCAD (or Revit if applicable) including:
    • Layouts
    • Wiring schematics
    • Zone charts
    • Equipment schedules
  • Project document management and coordination with other departments
  • Use architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings and models to ensure coordinated designs
  • Quality verification
  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards, uses easy-to-understand user interface text, and is appropriate for its intended
  • Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product, specifications, and the documentation required; and assist in producing them.
  • Manage proper naming conventions, revision control, and file storing procedures.
  • Contribute to reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement of CAD processes
Core Competencies SQEP Level 3
  • HND/OND (desirable but not essential) Knowledge and experience working with and designing to BS5839 Part 1 (essential)
  • Experience in design/commissioning fire alarm systems in the nuclear industry and/or major construction projects (essential)
  • Competent in generating technical documents and specifications (essential)
  • Experience in using Auto CAD system (essential)
  • Experience in using Navis works for clash detection and coordination (essential)
Core Competencies SQEP Level 2
  • HND/OND (desirable but not essential) Knowledge and experience working with and designing to BS5839 Part 1 (desirable)
  • Previous experience in similar tasks in nuclear plant and/or major construction projects
  • Competent in generating technical documents and specifications
  • Experience in using CAD system (desirable)
