Senior Geotechnical Engineer

In this Senior Geotechnical Engineer position, you'll support planning and engineering teams across a broad project portfolio. You'll specify, manage and interpret investigations, deliver geotechnical assessments, and design practical geotechnical solutions-often as part of wider civil / structural commissions, with some standalone ground engineering projects as required.
Typical deliverables you'll produce include :- Drafting Ground Investigation Reports (geotechnical elements)
- Proof of concept checks
- Mining legacy assessments and specifying mitigation measures
- ULS and SLS analysis for foundations
- Slope stability analysis
- Earthworks settlement analysis
- Earthworks specifications
- Cutting design (including soil nails, anchors or rock bolts)
- Embankment design (including reinforced embankments)
- Drafting Geotechnical Design Reports and Geotechnical Feedback Reports (to CD622)
To be effective in this Senior Geotechnical Engineer role, you'll bring strong technical capability alongside confident project and stakeholder management. You'll have :
- A proven project management track record within design and build environments
- Excellent communication skills and confidence building client relationships to support delivery and work winning
- Strong understanding of consultancy / design markets, including work planning and commercial management
- Excellent report writing skills, with the ability to self-check and deliver accurate work
- A degree in civil engineering or geology, plus a postgraduate geotechnical qualification
- Chartered status as a civil engineer or geologist
- Good understanding of EC7 and associated UK design codes
- Experience using specialist geotechnical assessment / design software (Rocscience and Geo5 preferred)
- Experience preparing drawings (ARC GIS and CAD preferred)
- Willingness to travel for short assignments in the UK and overseas
- A valid UK driving licence

This Senior Geotechnical Engineer opportunity is based from either Bristol or Cardiff, with an agile / hybrid approach and an expectation of three office days per week.
