Position Summary
This armed security position operates under the direct supervision of the Manager at a high‑profile client site. The officer observes and reports activity and incidents, ensuring the safety of property, visitors, and personnel. Response to unusual or emergency situations—including escalation of force up to and including armed response—is performed in accordance with protocol. The officer may patrol the site on foot or in vehicle, conduct access control, protect evidence, prepare logs and reports, and enforce site regulations and directives.
EssentialFunctions
- Control access to the client site through the admittance process, preventing unauthorized entry and safeguarding assets.
- Respond to unusual or emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force, maintaining proficiency with weapons and protective equipment.
- Provide a courteous and professional interaction with all client employees and visitors, representing the client and its security department.
- Communicate openly and honestly, providing information to visitors as authorized.
- Monitor entrances and exits, prevent unapproved or unlawful entry, and direct disruptive persons to leave the property.
- Patrol the assigned site on foot or in vehicle, checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, security violations, and mechanical problems.
- Protect evidence or scenes of incident during accidents, emergencies, or investigations, setting up barriers and signage.
- Prepare logs or reports, typing or entering information in a computer, ensuring accuracy and proper grammar.
- Observe and report incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, company management, or public‑safety authorities as required.
- Respond to incidents such as fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other emergencies following established procedures.
- Carrying out specific tasks of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned site.
- U.S. Citizenship (Preferred)
- At least 21 years of age
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Minimum of two (2) years of Armed Security / Law Enforcement experience or two (2) years of honorable service with the U.S. Armed Forces
- Meet all applicable state, county, and municipal licensing and permit requirements for armed security work and protective‑device qualifications.
- Meet and maintain certification requirements for BLS CPR/AED and First Aid from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
- Strong communication skills in speaking, writing, reading, and listening.
- Ability to carry out written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
- Effective team‑member skills and professional composure in unusual circumstances.
- Adaptability to changes in the external environment and organization.
- Good organizational skills and high quality customer service with courteous telephone manner.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
- Proficiency with the necessary computer software typically used by the department.
- Maintaining composure with authorities, executives, clients, staff, and the public, even under urgent and high‑pressure situations.
- Potential exposure to sensitive and confidential information.
- Potential exposure to stressful situations and challenging individuals.
- Utilizing rapid and effective judgment to respond to emergencies with appropriate force escalation.
- Work may require overtime without advance notice.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking for up to 12 hours per day, including climbing stairs, uneven terrain, and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Handling emergency situations that may involve pursuit, detaining and engaging individuals, frequent lifting up to 40 pounds, and occasionally moving up to 40 pounds.
- Close, distance, and adjustable vision requirements.
- Use of vehicle (cars, trucks, electric carts, bicycles) in the performance of duties.
- Occasional stressful physical activity and exposure to inclement weather, requiring protective gear.
- Working environments that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition, protective gear, devices, and awareness of personal safety and the safety of others.
