Within the AW Engineering, our Commissioning team plays a critical role in bringing new waterand water recycling assets to life. What Will You Be Doing as an Assistant Commissioning Engineer?This is a hands-on, site-based role where you’ll support the delivery of commissioning activities across a range of exciting water and water recycling projects. You’ll work closely with experienced Commissioning Engineers, gaining exposure to the fullproject lifecycle while building the skills needed to progress into a Commissioning Engineer role.
- Supporting the commissioning of new treatment works and systems, ensuring assetsare safe, reliable and ready for operation
- Assisting in the development of Commissioning Plans, documentation and test procedures
- Carrying out factory and site acceptance testing (FAT & SAT), including “Motor Control Cubicle (MCC’s) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s), instrumentation andtelemetry systems
- Supporting dry and wet commissioning activities and optimisation of treatmentprocesses
- Assisting with fault finding and troubleshooting automated control systems
- Helping to produce handover documentation, ensuring all assets meet required standards before transfer to Operations
- Working closely with construction, design and operational teams to integrate commissioning with project delivery
- Supporting training of operational teams on new assets and systems

What Does It Take to Be an Assistant Commissioning Engineer?We’re looking for someone with a strong technical foundation and a passion for learning and developing in an engineering environment:
- Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) apprenticeship or equivalent technical background
- Electrical Engineering qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)
- Knowledge of MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation and control systems
- Understanding of water or water recycling processes (desirable)
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach
- Good IT skills and ability to work with technical documentation
- Full UK driving licence
- A proactive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and develop
