Tezlom are currently recruiting for a Mental Health Support Worker to work with Ex-offenders to provide practical and emotional support to individuals who are transitioning back into the community after release from prison. The role focuses on helping service users rebuild their lives, reduce re-offending, and develop the skills needed to live independently
Position: Recovery Workers
- Ex-Offenders
Location: Streatham, London- SW16
Job Type: Ongoing, Temporary
Pay Rates: 13.20 per hr
Shift Timings:
Mon-Fri (8am-3pm, 2.30pm-10pm & 9.30pm-8.30am) and Sat, Sun (8am-9pm, 9pm-8.30am)
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting ex-offenders to successfully reintegrate into the community
- Assisting service users with accessing housing, employment, and benefits
- Helping individuals attend probation, court, GP, or other professional appointments
- Providing guidance on developing independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, and maintaining accommodation
- Encouraging positive lifestyle choices and supporting rehabilitation goals
- Signposting clients to relevant services such as mental health support, substance misuse services, education, and training opportunities
- Supporting clients to develop routines and structure in their daily lives
- Building positive, professional relationships with service users to promote engagement and trust
- Maintaining accurate records, support plans, and risk assessments
- Working closely with probation officers, housing teams, and other partner agencies
Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults, ex-offenders, or individuals with complex needs
- Good understanding of safeguarding and risk management
- Ability to work with challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of housing, benefits, and community support services (desirable)
