Department Overview

Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BUCASM), Department of Psychiatry at Boston Medical Center (BMC) is hiring a Psychiatrist – Acute Care to join our growing team. Our values and mission continue to drive our stronghold of excellence in patient care, education, and research. Both newly trained and/or experienced Psychiatrists are welcome to apply. Psychiatrists are members of the faculty at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BUCASM).

Brockton Behavioral Health Center is 112-bed facility opened in October 2022 to address mental health and substance use disorders, including co-occurring conditions. The hospital consists of 80 acute inpatient beds and 32 Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) beds. As part of BMC’s mission to provide comprehensive, holistic care, and to help fill an important unmet need in Massachusetts, BMC Brockton Behavioral Health Center provides innovative care to people with substance use disorders and mental illness.

BMC Brockton Behavioral Health Center Inpatient Psychiatric Service offers referral-only (primarily referred from other providers, including Emergency Departments), 24-hours/7-day care for patients who need secure psychiatric treatment in an acute inpatient setting. Our services are available to all eligible patients regardless of their ability to pay. We care for patients across the full spectrum of psychiatric conditions, including anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, depressive disorders, personality disorders, psychiatric conditions caused by medical illness, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, substance use disorder, co-occurring disorders and other psychiatric and medical needs.

Most patients have an average length of stay of 10 days. Our goal is to help patients achieve mental health stabilization so that they are equipped to return to their natural community or to the next level of care. Prior to discharge, patients will develop a complete plan to move on to the next steps of their treatment plan in coordination with our multidisciplinary team.

  • Preference for Board eligible/certified in Psychiatry

Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BUCASM) offers a competitive salary commensurate with academic training and practice experience. We continue to evaluate our compensation plan to remain one of the most competitive in salary and benefits. Salary range: $228,648-$360,078

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and departmental budget. The above hiring range represents a good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
