Physician Assistant, Critical Care Unit

Overview

Signature Healthcare is recruiting for a Physician Assistant role in the Critical Care Unit. The PA works in a collaborative role with the attending physician in the Critical Care Unit. Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant program; with 3-5 years experience in an acute-care setting. Under the leadership of the Attending Physician, this role provides comprehensive management of acutely or critically ill patients that require intensive monitoring.

Tasks include collaborating with the clinical team, documenting the medical plan, providing routine medical management of inpatient care including ordering of diagnostic tests, labs, x-rays, medications (within the scope of the PA license), nutrition and follow up on test results. Conduct minor procedures (under the direction and supervision of the Attending Physician), including chest tubes, indwelling venous and arterial catheters, nasogastric tubes, bladder catheters, minor wound debridement and removal of drains, repair of lacerations and I&D of abscesses.

Initiates appropriate emergency care until the arrival of the supervising physician.

Must maintain current certification in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support; certification in advanced trauma life support preferred.

3-5 years experience in an acute-care setting; graduate of an approved Physician Assistant program.
